LEGAL NEWS: AI Act – a revolution in the world of artificial intelligence, the first attempts to regulate fantastic algorithms

The topic continues to generate considerable emotion and requires regulation. Just a few weeks ago, on February 2, 2025, EU regulations, the so-called AI ACT, entered into force. This regulation comprehensively addresses the issue of artificial intelligence. It aims to introduce control mechanisms for practices such as verifying CVs submitted to organizations solely based on the terms contained therein, searched by pre-built algorithms. The regulation introduces a number of prohibitions and restrictions, such as the use of AI systems that may be deemed to result in unacceptable risk (systems employing manipulation techniques, biometric identification under certain conditions). The document also introduces strict requirements regarding the obligations imposed on suppliers and entities using AI to ensure appropriate knowledge and competencies in the field of AI, and on staff and individuals using AI systems. Therefore, the European Commission has issued guidelines on the application of AI regulations and introduced a legal definition of an AI system. The Polish legislator is working on a bill that aims to implement the AI Act, and the current version of its draft has been published on the RCL website:
