From the internet to the prosecutor's office – a short journey. Anonymity is a myth – responsibility is real. Combating so-called online hate.

Year after year, we observe a growing scale of online crimes – often committed by individuals convinced they are completely invisible behind a screen.

LAWSTORY received a case concerning insulting and defamatory content published in a Facebook group (now META Platforms, Inc.). These statements – vulgar, offensive, and undermining professional reputations – not only damage the reputation of the victims but also contain serious insinuations, including alleged crimes, including sexual ones.

Due to the victims' high profile in the local community and the professional context of the posts, these actions meet the criteria for offenses specified in Article 226 § 1 and Article 212 of the Penal Code.

In response to this situation, the law firm immediately took legal action – a relevant report was filed with law enforcement authorities. These words – even those "written in a comment" – can have far-reaching consequences, including legal ones.
